2 Pick Tuesday!

Do you know what today is? Today is 7 days before Christmas! I've already begun to pack up my things for the long stay at my mother's house. I've got most of the gifts wrapped and I'm planning for all of the sweet treats we'll be bringing to share.

Oh, and did I mention its my birthday? Yup! I'm a Christmas season baby. For years I felt totally jilted that Jesus's birth totally overshadowed my birthday. My family didn't visit me on my birthday, because they see me on Christmas. My friends couldn't come over for my birthday because they were off travelling for Christmas  I didn't usually get mailed birthday cards - they were just handed to me at Christmas. And the worst. The absolute WORST. Combining gifts. "Do you like that Barbie Kayla? That's for  your birthday *and* Christmas." - Uh, thanks Grandma... I guess.

Thank God my Dad understood. He always goated mom into spending more on my birthday than she would the other kids, because it does get overshadowed. God rest his soul.

Now that I'm older though, I like it. I feel like the whole month of December is a great big celebration and I don't mind if the lines between birthday and Christmas are blurred. As long as its happy, and filled with family. ♥

Anyhoo, I've got some super cute 2 Picks - lets see 'em!

2 Pick Tuesday

2 Pick Tuesday

#1 Candy Cane Truffles by Hungry Girl por Vida

I have seen this sort of thing before, but never as strikingly beautiful as this. These fudge looking squares are meant to be mixed with hot milk to make hot cocoa. How sweet is that!? Last week I talked about my idea of giving a fudge sample for Christmas to all of the families at our gathering. This feels like it would fit right in, but be a unique "fudge" idea. Something like, "Cocoa Fudge - mix with 8oz of hot milk for Hot Cocoa!" Plus, it looks so easy I'm pretty sure I HAVE to try it!

#2 The Gift of Journaling by Lil Blue Boo

For some time I have carried a little hand made book with me in my purse wherever I go. I tuck notes, cards, inspirational sayings in its pages, and I write myself into it. I do a lot of my writing during Chapel, where I contemplate in words the prayers that I pray and the meanings of the message. Its been a wonderful experience for me, one that came pretty naturally as I'm used to using a sketchbook in a similar way. This post from Lil Blue Boo is just the things to get started!
