Managing My Stress [Free Printable] {Wanna Be Wednesday}

Stress Bible Verse

Things get hectic. Yup- that happens. People start to get pushy, and you start to feel overwhelmed. That’s when I’m at my worst. I internalize a lot of “what ifs” and “how comes”, which leads me to be constantly anxious about what I’m going to do next. In the beginning of the Who I Want to Be series, I mentioned that one change I wanted to make is stress related.

So it was serendipity when I bumped into a National Geographic documentary about stress. Turns out its a pretty serious problem. It can shorten your lifespan, raise your blood pressure, weaken your immune system… all sorts of terrible things. One key point that they made int he documentary was this.

Stress is related to control.

The more control you feel over your environment, the less stress you feel. I found this to be very interesting, because my own stress comes a lot from not knowing what will happen next. I suppose if I felt I had more control over my future I would know what would happen, and I wouldn’t worry.

For example, this week my hubby and I found an AWESOME beetle that we might want to buy. But, we can’t look at it until Friday. I am stressing out about whether or not it will sell by then. It looks like a great buy, and we’ve been looking for a long time, and its near to us, and its yellow and, and , and…. See how I get?

But then another thing hit me. What if I don’t have to be the one in control? What if I relinquish control to someone I trust whole heartedly? Would I still not worry? I’m not sure- but I’m going to try.  This week I’m going to work to put things in the Lord’s hands and not worry about it. So, if that Beetle is still there when we visit on Friday- good. If its not then obviously it wasn’t meant to be.

I even made a free printable around it.
