Ice Cream Bar Reveal + Giveaway

Bright Basement Ice Cream "Shop" - great kid friendly alternative to a bar! | Saynotsweetanne.com | #diy #icecream #bar #basement #retro

We have been in this house for over 6 months now! It is so hard to believe! In all that time We’ve started a LOT of projects. And only finished a hand full. (Don’t worry, I’m not giving up!) The first room that we ever finished was our Rustic Cozy Guest Room. And this, this is the second.

Hubby and I knew from the start that our finished basement was likely to be the place where we did the most entertaining. So, we planned a kid-friendly, bright, and sort of retro area. This is one corner of the massive basement that focuses on my ice cream maker and collection of candies and jars. You might recognize a few past-post elements in there. Like the DIY Upscale Apothecary Jars and Bookshelf Makeover.

When we bought the house, the basement with this dark hodge podge of manly colors and missing trim. We gave it a fresh coat of paint (took several coats) and that brought it back to life!! Oh, and you see that fuse box there? Um, its still there above the refrigerator. But now it stores candy on the outside. I bet you never would have guessed!

The thing that really ties this room together is our custom sign from Signs.com. This sign was provided to me for free, all opinions expressed are 100% mine.

I got this sign a couple of weeks before we actually moved into the house. It is made of aluminum and the printing turned out REALLY well. I get so many comments on it, and I love the way it fits the space.

I chose to design our sign myself, and Signs.com printed it no problem. But, for those who want something a little more ready made, they have a great selection of cute phrases and customizable family signs! Check out these two!

There are a bunch more in their aluminum sign section. But don’t go thinking that is all they do! They’ve got car decals, wall decals, banners and more!

Oh, and did I mention that in celebration of my SECOND room finished in the new house, Signs.com and I are giving away a $50 credit? That’s enough to print your own awesome sign/decal! Where will you put yours? What about a banner for big birthday coming up? Or a decal for your business on your car? Or an AWESOME Ice cream shop sign? ;D

  1. I think a sign for my kitchen would be great. Not sure what I would want it to say though.

Your idea of an ice cream center is just great! We actually own a large ice cream maker like Dairy Queen would use. Got it off of Ebay from someone that was selling here locally. We keep it outside and use it for all our large functions. We love it!

  2. I love the ice cream parlor idea. So much more family friendly than a bar area but still just as cool. I have no idea what i’d get if I won. Probably something for my boy’s room. I think i’ll look over their site for inspiration. Btw, I’m an early sits visitor.

  3. This is just too cute! You totally got my mind a-whirling for something all cutesy for the kids playroom. Perhaps a pretend ice cream bar….or something equally BRIGHT, since it looks so dang good!

  4. Wow, that’s such an awesome project & it came out looking stunning. If only I could eat ice cream…

If I won, I’d get a custom sign made up. Featuring Eeyore of course (I am obsessed with him & have a collection).
