I’m a Foodie Penpal

The Lean Green Bean

This month, I decided to try the Foodie Pen Pal program by The Lean Green Bean. Basically, you sign up, and you receive the info to a pen pal. You put together a foodie box for them worth ~$15, and you send it their way by mid month. Meanwhile, someone else is doing the same for you! At the end of the month, if you’re a blogger, you post about what you got! If you’re not a blogger you can still participate ;D

So, this being my first time I had no idea what to expect. I was super intrigued when my pen pal emailed me mid month to let me know that my product had shipped with an ice block. When it arrived and I opened it, this is what I got!

I really liked the Bellini mix, I’m not a big drinker though- so it was a little to hard core for my tastes. (I know I’m a lightweight.) It was the booze though, not the drink that I didn’t care for. =D My Pen Pal included it because I mentioned I like product packaging. She’s right- its a cute little can!

The chocolate was amazing. I’ve had this kind before- they sell it at my local health food place. I’m a huge fan of dark chocolate – and the orange tang is just TO DIE for!! I highly recommend. ;D

I wish I could tell you about the yogurt. But, when the box came my husband ate one, and saved the other for me. He said it was thick and very sweet, like frosting. He raved and raved about it. Two days later, he ate the other one too. So yeah, I didn’t get to try it. :C

The apple hand pie is something that my Pen Pal gets right from her home town. They are hand made and so good! I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to eat it cold, warm, or neither. I tried it cold and it was yummy! (I think I might have liked it even better warm with some ice cream!)

I have never had a Starbucks coffee. I know, I can hear your collective gasps now as I write this. As I’ve said a few times before, I don’t really like coffee. What I do like is overly chocolate/milk mochas. Like, essentially chocolate milk with a tsp of coffee in it. I’m saving these to make something frothy and chocolatey later on!

This cheese was very good. It tasted like a really strong, almost sweet cheddar. This also is produced near my Pen Pal’s home, and the letter said its even won “Best Cheese in America!”. I did like it- although it is stronger than my normal go-to flavors. I think it would pair wonderfully with dark chocolate…. oh wait I have some of that! ;D
Over all the Foodie Pen pals program was awesome! After recieving this great box, I feel I didn’t do a good enough for my pen pal. IF I went ahead another month, I’d have to devote some serious time and energy into finding off the wall little foods. IT does take a chunk of time, and the shipping is pretty expensive, even in the flat rate boxes. But man, its so cool to open  a care package like this full of surprises!
