It is finally Fall here. The beautiful sights of orange, red, and yellow Michigan leaves stir up visions of warm sweaters and hot coffee. It is time to break out the Pumpkin Skin Mask, and make some Chai Ice Cream and Acorn Squash. We bought our fall mums for the front porch, and a beautiful last-chance bouquet of dahlias.
I’m not usually a fan of fresh flowers, mostly because I forget about them and they die before I feel I’ve really enjoyed them. So when I brought home these gorgeous fall colored dahlias, I decided to do something to make them last. I started by photographing them.
Then, I took that photo and I traced it, threw on a couple of line filters, and put them into a beautiful 4 postcard set! This fits right in for me, with my desire to reconnect and hunker down in autumn. I can use these little cards to reach out to old friends, make coffee dates and overall enjoy the pleasure of company this season.
Of course, you can use them that way too. Or simply print them out and frame them to encapsulate the fading growing season. I’m in a very “you do you” mood – so the sky is the limit!
Interestingly, in the several times I’ve tried to keep a journal, I’ve always started one in October. I don’t know what it is, but the autumn season definitely makes me introspective as well as long for company. This dahlia look would make a beautiful diary cover as well as printable postcards. I might have to look into that!
Do you have a particular mood that you associate with Fall?
Who would you send a postcard to? Or who would you most wish you’d receive a postcard from? Grab your own printable dahlia cards below – and reconnect!
